Orthopedic Institute 

Regionally recognized for pediatric musculoskeletal care, the CHOC Orthopedic Institute provides comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for children and teens—purpose-built for growing bodies and delivered by board-certified pediatric orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, and physical/occupational therapists. Care is coordinated end-to-end with pediatric specialists, equipment, and facilities.  

The Institute offers innovative specialty programs and outpatient clinics, plus tightly integrated, family-centered care. Multidisciplinary partners include physiatrists, neurosurgery/neurology, rheumatology, pulmonology, cardiology, nurses/NPs, PAs and orthopedic technicians. CHOC also provides robust child life and family support.  

The CHOC Difference includes: leading regional volumes for pediatric spine conditions; Orange County’s only pediatric clinic designated by the Muscular Dystrophy Association; two fellowship-trained hand surgeons; one of the region’s most comprehensive sports injury rehab programs; and early West Coast leadership in PRECICE™ limb-lengthening. Orthopedic research at CHOC focuses on areas such as neuroengineering, robotics, exercise physiology, and functional genomics—advancing treatment and rehabilitation for kids. Recent work spans topics from tibial tubercle fracture outcomes to ACL pain management and supracondylar humerus fracture care.

Dermatology

CHOC Children’s Specialists Dermatology program offers a broad range of clinical and surgical services for pediatric patients aged newborn to 21 with rare or severe skin, hair, or nail conditions.

Our team of double-board-certified dermatologists and pediatric specialists partner with you and your family to deliver expert care. We focus on providing personalized treatment plans, ensuring proper management of complex dermatological conditions, and advancing research to best understand their causes and treatments.

Common conditions our dermatologists and, or, physician assistants treat include:

  • Skin growth and skin lesions 
  • Psoriasis
  • Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris (PRP)
  • Deficiency of the interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (DIRA)
  • Deficiency of the interleukin-36 receptor antagonist (DITRA) 
  • Eczema and other rashes, especially when requiring systemic treatment
