Dr. Lilibeth Torno is a CHOC Specialist in pediatric oncology and the clinical director of the After Cancer Treatment Survivorship (ACTS) Program and outpatient services at the Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC.

For more than 15 years, Dr. Torno has dedicated herself to numerous research projects. She is involved in a number of research projects in association with the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), and is the clinical investigator in several COG bone and soft tissue cancer treatment studies. Independent of her work with COG, Dr. Torno is very involved in researching cancer survivorship and educating cancer survivors on the long-term impact of their cancers and treatments. To further this interest, Dr. Torno is involved in the Childhood Cancer Survivorship Study. In this multi-center study, Dr. Torno and others are looking at long-term health and quality of life in childhood cancer survivors. Dr. Torno is also in the process of developing an educational curriculum for survivors ages 15 and older. In the future, she hopes to create curriculum for younger children.

Dr. Torno’s research focus includes cancer survivorship and educating cancer survivors on the long-term impact of their cancers and treatments, and her special interests include bone and soft tissue sarcomas, germ cell tumors, and histiocytosis.

Dr. Torno is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology. Prior to joining CHOC, Dr. Torno attended medical school at University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. She served her internship in pediatrics at University of San Tomas and her residency training at Makati Medical Center in Makati, Philippines. Dr. Torno conducted a residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at CHOC Hospital. Dr. Torno speaks fluent Tagalog. She was voted as one of Orange County’s Top Doctors.

Dr. Torno is currently involved in a number of research projects in association with the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). She is currently clinical investigator in several COG bone and soft tissue cancer treatment studies.
