Introduction to CHOC metabolic lab:

The Metabolic Laboratory at CHOC in Orange County offers a variety of tests for the diagnosis and treatment of metabolic disorders. The laboratory is open Monday to Friday. Samples are run weekly with the possibility of performing a STAT test after discussion of the clinical information with the laboratory director.

Abnormal diagnostic results are reported immediately either by phone or fax, followed by the final official report. All other results are reported after a final interpretation is issued. The laboratory is available for consultative services to health care provides to help in the interpretation of test results and / or to assist on the need for further metabolic testing.

General Information:
Laboratory working hours are Monday to Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm PST.
Please ship specimens Monday to Thursday.
STAT samples require the approval of the Lab director.
Label each specimen with patient’s last and first name, DOB and date and time of specimen collection.
Please send specimen with completed CHOC Metabolic Lab Test Request form (attached).
